Monsoon Watch & It’s Farewell

This is a tradition of IMD that before declaring withdrawal of Southwest monsoon from any part of the country, they declare that monsoon trough less marked. So on 27th September south west monsoon trough has been less marked. Before 27th it was at the foot hills of Himalayas. The well marked low over northern part of central MP on 21st which moved up to West UP and Uttarakhand did not allow IMD to declare the withdrawal of monsoon. Though it was confirmed that this low would not move west ward because of anticyclone present over west Rajasthan. On 27th September IMD declared withdrawal of south west monsoon from West Rajasthan, parts of Punjab, parts of Haryana and Kutch. On 30th IMD further declared withdrawal of south west monsoon from entire Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, remaining part of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Rajasthan, Kutch, some part of Uttarakhand, Saurashtra and Gujarat and most part of East Rajasthan and some more part of North Arabian sea. Withdrawal line passes through Uttarkashi, Agra, Shivpur, Kalyan, Gandhinagar, Dwarka, Latitude 22 deg N and longitude 65 degree E, Latitude 22 degree N and longitude 60 degree E.

The system which affected our region was mainly cyclonic circulation formed over Gulf of Martaban on 24th extended up to 5.8 kilometer above mean sea level. The system moved West Northwest ward and today it is over South Odisha and neighbourhood. It’s vertical extension was 7.6 Km a.m.s.l. on 27th and today it extends up to 5.8 Km a.m.s.l. but another development is more rain giving development. The trough from this cyclonic circulation runs up to North Kerala across North Interior Karnataka, Telangana, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka. The Well Marked Low over West UP on 23rd weaken in to Low over West UP adjoining Uttarakhand on 24th and on 25th further weaken in to Cyclonic Circulation and moved to East UP. On 28th it became less marked.

Due to this trough south west monsoon was vigorous over South Interior Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, South Konkan – Goa.

Monsoon was vigorous over South Konkan – Goa on 25th and active over South Madhya Maharashtra on 25th September. Rainfall was at isolated places over North Konkan, at many or most places over South Konkan – Goa, at isolated places over North Madhya Maharashtra, at many places over South Madhya Maharashtra. Vidarbha also observed very light to light rainfall at isolated places. Gujarat experienced dry weather full week.

 

Forecast for the week 01st October to 07th October

North Konkan (Greater Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar) :-North Konkan will experience sunny weather from 01st to 06th on 07th light to moderate rain will occur at few places.

South Konkan :- Because of trough South Konkan – Goa will observe moderate rain at few places from 01st to 04th September, on 05th and 06th light rain at isolated places again on 07th moderate rain at many places.

North Madhya Maharashtra :-Districts of North Madhya Maharashtra will experience sunny weather from 01st to 05th September. On 06th rain at isolated places.On 07th moderate rainfall at many places.

South Madhya Maharashtra :-These districts will observe moderate rainfall at many places on 04th and 07th September. Remaining days light to moderate rainfall at isolated places.

Marathwada :-Districts of Marathwada will experience sunny days on 01st and 05th other days light rainfall at isolated places. Only on 07th moderate rainfall at many places.

Vidarbha :- From 01st to 05th districts of West Vidarbha will observe sunny days and on 06th light rainfall at isolated places but on 07th September moderate rainfall at many places will occur. For east Vidarbha light rainfall at isolated places from 01th to 04th and on 05th light to moderate rainfall at few places but on 07th light to moderate rainfall at many places.

Gujarat state :-Gujarat state will experience sunny days full week.
