As per the assesment from SACOF South Asia Climate Outlook Forum that met in Thimphu Bhutan 24 to 26 April, that Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, UP, Coastal and Interior Tamilnadu, Goa have been identified as areas which are likely to witness less than normal rain during monsoon 2017.
Coastal AP Odisha adjoining Bengal may get surplus rain and excess over northeast states. Kerala Karnataka Western Ghat and Southern Part of Tamilnadu will receive excess rain.
Forum also found the uncertainty in the timing and intensity of developing El Nino that has had a negative impact on monsoon
According to forum weak El Nino developing during the second half of monsoon . IOD will be neutral.
