Monsoon May Hit Kerala By 30th May 2017

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced May 30 as date of onset of the South-West monsoon over the Kerala coast.

Generally the onset phase has witnessed formation of low-pressure areas, depressions and cyclones in the past. This time no model is suggesting any formation of depression or cyclone.

The strengthening monsoon flows across the Equator is persisting. Cloud band is strengthening southwest of Lakshdweep. Even south tip of Tamilnadu is observing thick cloud. All these are good sign of onset of monsoon over Kerala.

Bay of Bengal is rough with high swells wind speed is high. Anticyclone over central Arabian sea may move west ward as one model suggesting formation of low over central Arabian sea. Southern India experiencing pre-monsoon thunder activity with no decreasing trend.
