MONSOON UPDATES & WEEKLY REPORT ENDING 29TH JULY 2017

Realised Weather over Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat State. (23rd July  to 29th July )

On 23rd July, the low pressure area over Gujarat region has merged with low pressure area over Northern parts of West Madhya Pradesh and lies over Southeast Rajasthan and neighbourhood and extends up to 7.6 km a.m.s.l. The system persisted at the same area on 24th July.

On 25th July, it lies over central parts of Rajasthan. It became less marked on 26th July. A fresh upper air cyclonic circulation formed over Gujarat region & neighbourhood between 4.5 km and5.8 km above mean sea level on 27th July. On 28th July, it became less marked.

The monsoon trough remained south of its normal position.

The above weather conditions gave tremendous rainfall over Gujarat state. Monsoon was vigorous over Gujarat region from 23rd to 25th July and active from 26th to 28th July. Monsoon was vigorous over Saurashtra and Kutch on 23rd July and active on 27 and 28th July. The effect of these system seen over North Konkan and North Madhya Maharashtra.  The monsoon was active over North Konkan on 23rd July and over North Madhya Maharashtra on 23rd & 29th July. Rainfall occurred at many places over South Madhya Maharashtra except 26th and 27th when it was at a few places.  Rainfall occurred at many places over Vidarbha and at isolated places over Marathwada.

Forecast for next week

Konkan – Goa: Light to moderate rainfall likely to occur at many places over Konkan and Goa during the coming week.

Madhya Maharashtra: Districts of Madhya Maharashtra will get light rain at isolated places during the week.

Marathwada: Marathwada will experience dry days either sunny or partly cloudy skies full week as the low over North West MP will be moving towards Northwest ward and taking the trough to the north of its normal position.

Vidarbha: Vidarbha will be getting light rain at isolated places during the week

Gujarat region: Districts of north Gujarat region will receive light to moderate rainfall on 30th and 31st of July after that the districts will observe dry week. Same position will occur for districts of south Gujarat also.

Saurashtra and Kutch: Districts of Kutch will observe light to moderate rainfall at isolated places on 30th of July after that Kutch will experience dry days full week. Saurashtra will light to moderate rainfall at few places on 30th July and thereafter dry days.

 

Note on Monsoon watch

Present position of the monsoon trough is showing the rainfall over northern part of central India as the trough is moving towards north. Situation in Bay of Bengal is not showing any activity in near future. So the next week will be good for north India like Uttarakhand HP Jammu West UP North Rajasthan and Punjab.
