Weekly Weather Report Ending 21st July 2018

Realised weather during the week 15-07-2018 to 21-07-2018.

Till end of last week on 21st July 2018, the southwest Monsoon has been active over east Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Gujarat Region, Madhya Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and coastal Andhra Pradesh. It has been subdued over Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, east Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra & Kutch and Rayalaseema.

During last week monsoon was vigorous over Maharashtra state and Gujarat state.

Full week Gujarat region, Saurashtra and North Konkan were disturbed by heavy to very heavy rain with one or two extremely heavy rain.

Some of the rainfall figure in centimetre are:

On 16th July – Mahabaleshwar 30, Matheran 26, Surat 13, Balsad, Santacruz 10, Gondia 9. On 17th July – Mahabaleshwar 27, Bulsar 22, Rajkot 19, Veraval 18, Matheran 11, Kolhapur 9, Gondia 7, Kandla, Nashik 6.

On 18th July – Porbundar, Damoh 20, Mahabaleshwar 16, Dwarka 18.

 

Cyclonic Circulation over South Gujarat

The most important system developed over South Gujarat region as cyclonic circulation on 13th of July and persisted till 21st July. This system continuously poured rain over North Konkan, Gujarat region and North Madhya Maharashtra.

Cyclonic circulation of South Gujarat moved to North Gujarat and then to South Rajasthan. On 21st Mount Abu recorded 17 cm of rainfall.

 

Positions of Monsoon Trough:

On 16th July, the axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passed through Jaisalmer, Kota, Sagar, Ambikapur, Jharsuguda.

On 19th July, the axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passed through Anupgarh, Jaipur, Gwalior, centre of low pressure area over central parts of north Madhya Pradesh & neighbourhood, Daltonganj, Jamshedpur, centre of another low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal.

On 21st July, the axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passed through Anupgarh, Jaipur, Shivpuri, Tikamgarh, Varanasi, Jamshedpur, centre of Depression over northwest Bay of Bengal

 

Formation of Low and Depression:

On 19th July a Low pressure area was formed over North West Bay of Bengal.

On 20th this Low had become Well Marked Low (WML). This WML moved up to central part of Madhya Pradesh and on 20th it merged with monsoon trough. This system poured rain over interior Odisha, Chhattisgarh and MP area.

On 21st July a well marked low over Northwest Bay intensified in to Depression. This system will move in westerly direction. This system was the remnant of cyclone which was formed over South China Sea.

(Depression is a intense low pressure system with wind speed reaching upto 54 kmph)

 

Forecast for the week 22-07-2018 to 28-07-2018.

Due to movement of above mentioned Depression, Vidarbha, Northern part of Marathwada, North Madhya Maharashtra and North Gujarat region including South West MP will get heavy to very heavy rain from 22nd July to 25th July.

From 26th it will move to East Rajasthan and wil give rain to East Rajasthan. From 26th onward Maharashtra state Gujarat state will get passing shower till the end of the week. First half of the week is down pour for Vidarbha, North Madhya Maharashtra and North Gujarat region.
