Weekly Weather Report Ending 7th July 2018

Realised weather during the week 01-07-2018 to 07-07-2018.

From 01st July monsoon trough started shifting northward and reached to foothills of Himalayas on 04th July. Due to this shifting rainfall activity was less over central India. In Maharashtra state Marathwada and Vidarbha was almost dry till 04th of July. Districts of North Madhya Maharashtra received only passing showers till 05th July. Konkan and South Madhya Maharashtra got sufficient rainfall.

In Gujarat state North Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch were almost dry. A cyclonic circulation developed over north and adjoining central Arabian sea and moved to south Gujarat. This cyclonic circulation made monsoon active over North Konkan and South Gujarat region for three days.

Santacruz recorded 13 cm of rain at 0830 hours of 03-07-2018 and 12 cm on 04th. Vasai, Palghar, Surat, Navsari, Amreli and many stations of North Konkan and South Gujarat received more than 10 cm of rain during these three days.

Though as per IMD off shore trough was feeble but this cyclonic circulation gave good amount of rain. Another cyclonic circulation which helped getting good rain, was over coastal Andhra Pradesh between 4.8 and 5.8 kilometer above mean sea level. This circulation moved to central Bay of Bengal on 02nd July and further moved to interior South Odisha. This cyclonic circulation further moved to South Chhattisgarh and gave heavy rain to Vidarbha and next day to Marathwada. Last three days of the week were good for Vidarbha and Marathwada.

Forecast for Maharashtra & Gujarat for the week 08-07-2018 to 14-07-2018.

In the coming week monsoon will become active over Marathwada, Vidarbha and North Madhya Maharashtra till 10th of July.  Except Satara, Sangli, Sholapur and Kolhapur all the districts of Maharashtra will receive moderate to heavy rainfall between 08th and 10th July. After 11th the system will move towards Gujarat and from 12th to 14th Gujarat region will receive moderate rainfall.

Low have formed over North West Bay of Bengal. Because of this West coast of Maharashtra will get moderate to heavy rainfall full week.
