Weekly Weather Report Ending 9th February and Forecast Till 16th February 2019

In the last week, the interaction of four weather system created extremely cold weather over Northwest and Central India. These weather systems are

  1. A western disturbance which appeared as trough in westerlies on 4th February became an upper air cyclonic circulation over Afghanistan and neighbourhood on 5th February moved westwards and lay over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir on 6th to 9th February.
  2. A trough developed over North Arabian sea  and then extended upto Eastcentral Arabian sea.
  3. An induced low pressure system  over  Rajasthan and neighbourhood.
  4. A trough over Central India.

Northern and Central part of India experienced very low temperature with widespread snow/hailstorm.  The minimum temperature of 1.4 deg C. recorded at Churu (Rajasthan) on 9th February was the lowest temperature during the week.

Forecast for the week 10th to 16th February 2019:

  • On 10th and 11th only interior part of Kerala will get rain rest of the country will observe dry weather.
  • 12th , 13th , entire country will observe dry weather. From 14th a western disturbance will be affecting north west India.
  • On 14 and 15 Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand and west UP will face rainfall and at some places hail storm.
  • Jammu-Kashmir , Himachal Pradesh will observe rain and snowfall on 14th and 15th.
  • From 16th again dry spell and cold wave to north west India.
