WEEKLY WEATHER REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING 16th December 2018

A Low Pressure Area has formed over Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining central parts of South Bay of Bengal on 10th December 2018. It has become Well Marked Low pressure area  over the same area on 11th December 2018.  It lies over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean on 12th December 2018. The well marked low pressure area (WML) intensified into a Depression (D) and lay centered near Lat. 6.7°N / Long. 88.6°E at 0830 hrs IST of 13th December 2018.  It intensified into a Deep Depression and lay centred near Lat. 7.6°N / Long. 88.0°E at 2330 hrs IST of 13th December 2018. It moved further north-northwestwards and lay centered near Lat. 8.5°N and Long. 87.4°E at 0830 hrs IST of 14th December 2018. It moved west-northwestwards and lay centered near Lat. 9.2°N and Long.85.2°E at 0830 hrs IST of 15th December, 2018. The Deep Depression over southwest & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestwards, intensified into a cyclonic storm ‘PHETHAI’ and lay centred near Lat. 10.3°N and Long. 84.9°E at 1730 hrs IST of 15th December 2018. It further moved north-northwestwards and lies centered near Lat. 11.8°N and Long. 84.0°E at 0830 hrs IST of 16th December 2018

The western disturbance lies over north Pakistan and neighbourhood on 10th December 2018. The western disturbance moved eastwards and lies over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir and the induced cyclonic circulation lies over west Rajasthan and neighbourhood on 11th December 2018. The western disturbance developed as a cyclonic circulation at 3.1 kms above m. s. l. over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir and the induced cyclonic circulation lies over east Rajasthan on 12th December 2018. The western disturbance became less marked on 13th December 2018. This Western Disturbance gave heavy snowfall over North India.

For Maharashtra, the minimum temperature has shown decreasing trend with effect from 11th December 2018 over districts of Thane, Nashik, Jalgaon , Nandurbar and Dhule.

 

FORECAST FOR THE WEEK 16TH December to 22nd December 2018

The Cyclonic strom ‘PHETHAI’ will be weakened before landfall near Kakinada of Andhra Pradesh on 17th December 2018.

Northern part of Rajasthan and MP, West UP, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, HP and Uttarakhand will observe moderate fog and cold day. Day and Night temperature may fall by 2 degree C.
