WEATHER REPORT FROM 06TH-12TH JULY & FORECAST FOR 13TH-19TH JULY 2020

Realized weather during the last week from 06th July to 12th July:

Well marked Low Pressure over Gujarat State

On 06th the cyclonic circulation over south Gujarat became well marked low pressure area. It was over Saurashtra on 6th July. Saurashtra experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall on 6th 7th 8th July. On 06thDevbhoomi and Porbandar recorded 49 cm and 29 cm of rainfall.

On 08th Okha recorded 50 cm and Dwaraka 30 cm.

Low Over Southeast Jharkhand

On 6th another low was lying over South East Jharkhand. Due to this East UP Jharkhand, Odisha Bihar observed good rainfall. During this period North Konkan also observed good rainfall including Mumbai. South Konkan experienced moderate rainfall.

From 9th July Gujarat got relief as well marked low became weak. Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra got very little rainfall. Vidarbha also not experienced much rainfall during this period. From 9th the monsoon trough started shifting northward.

Monsoon Trough at Himalaya Foothills

From 10th July the monsoon trough was at the foothills of Himalaya. Due to this situation North East states of India had heavy to very heavy rainfall with Jalpaiguri-46 cm; Cherrapunji-27 cm; Baghdogra-24 cm.

On 12th Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Central India did not get rainfall.

 

Forecast–  (13 July to 19 July 2020)

Monsoon Trough will continue to be at foot hills of Himalaya till 14th after that a cyclonic circulation is forming over East UP which will pull the monsoon trough south ward.

13th, 14th & 15th rain will continue over UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and North-East states.

16th to 18th rainfall activity will increase over West MP, adjoining East Rajasthan and adjoining Vidarbha, adjoining West UP. Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka will continue to receive rain.

On 16th, 17th  rainfall activity over Konkan and Goa will intensify.

On 15th and 16th Marathwada and Vidarbha will get a good rain. AP, Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema will get too little rainfall or no rainfall.

Offshore trough will be shifting from Goa – Kerala to North Konkan – South Karnataka. Gujarat state will get few showers only.
