Weekly Forecast With Cyclone “YAAS” & Onset of SW Monsoon

Weekly forecast from 24 May to 30 May 2021:

Cyclone in Bay
A well-marked low-pressure area over East Central Bay of Bengal has concentrated into depression and it will intensify into a cyclonic storm in 24 hours and subsequently it will further intensify into a severe cyclonic storm.

On 26 May evening, it will cross between North Odisha and West Bengal.

Southwest Monsoon
As per IMD, Southwest monsoon has settled over the entire Andaman sea. It is advanced over Andaman Nicobar Island and some more parts of the Bay of Bengal. Northern Limit of monsoon line passes through lat 05 deg N & long 80 deg E, lat 10 deg N & long 85 deg E, lat 13 deg N & long 90 deg E and lat 16 deg N & long 94.5 deg E.

Conditions are favourable for arrival of monsoon over Kerala between 28th May and 01st June.

Rainfall:
In the first half of the week Konkan, ghat area, Madhya Maharashtra, South interior Karnataka, Kerala and northeast states will observe rain or thundershowers.

In the second half of the week, due to cyclonic storms West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh and Northeast states will face heavy to very heavy rain.
